The Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) is proud to lead a delegation of top business leaders in the clean technology and digital entertainment sectors in China. The delegation, compromising of 10 companies, will visit Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen from November 5-11, 2015. The goal of the Mission is to attract investment to Vancouver, build long-term strategic partnerships with one of Canada’s most important trading partners, and serve as a strategic platform for Vancouver companies to showcase their cutting-edge technologies and services to a broader market.
Through targeted meetings, investment forums, individual and customized business-to-business networking, MOU signings and targeted site visits, this Business Mission is designed to connect local entrepreneurs to meaningful business opportunities.
To ensure success, the VEC has coordinated its efforts on programming with Chinese state-level, municipal and federal governments, along with leading industry associations.
It should be noted that Mayor Gregor Robertson will be participating in the Guangzhou portion of the Mission as he is China to to mark the 30th anniversary sister city relationship of Vancouver and Guangzhou. He is joined by Councillor Kerry Jang, members of Tourism Vancouver, and a delegation of nearly 200 people from the Vancouver-Guangzhou Friendship Society and other local community groups.
Earlier this year, the City welcomed a 90-member delegation, led by Guangzhou Mayor Chen Jianhua, to Vancouver from June 13-16. The delegation included business leaders, government officials and performing artists from China.
