Angels for Climate Solutions

Investing smart capital into tech-enabled climate solutions

Angels for Climate Solutions banner photo

Program Overview

Designed to increase the flow of capital investment into B.C.-based climate technology startups

The program, delivered by the Vancouver Economic Commission and TD Bank in partnership with Volition, Foresight Canada, and Spring Activator, undertakes a cohort-based approach to training with two intersecting streams:

  1. Investor Stream: for angel investors looking to make early-stage investments into climate technologies.
  2. Startup Stream: for climate-focused startups looking to fundraise, and will include 1:1 tailored business advising for all participants.

Building on the success of our 2022 Angels for Climate Solutions Program, the 2023 program will provide startups the tools, training, and confidence to develop, deliver on, and effectively communicate their plan to undertake a seed capital raise, and investors the tools and knowledge to confidently assess and select ventures that align with their investment goals.

All participating startups will have access to 6-weeks of Core Investment Training, 1:1 business advising, and the opportunity to pitch their solutions to the angel investor cohort. The top Top 5 finalists selected by the investors will move on to receive an additional five weeks of tailored training while completing due diligence meetings and preparing to pitch at the program finale for $100,000.

  • Geoengineering and land use
  • Supply chain and circular economy
  • Heavy industry

What others have to say…

The 2022 Angels for Climate Solutions challenge was a well-grounded step-by-step tour of the key elements of impact investing. The guidance from Spring, the networking opportunity with peers, and the dynamics that combined research, collaboration and decision making made for an invigorating, informative and fulfilling exercise. Thanks to VEC, Spring, and to their partners for providing this take-forward experience

Ted Sheldon, Investor

The content and support provided for entrepreneurs and new businesses rival that of any university academic course, accelerator program, or incubator. It's a premium quality program and I couldn't endorse it more highly

Program Intent

We designed the Angels for Climate Solutions program to catalyze the growth of climate solutions by empowering angel investors to fund climate-backed solutions and increase the flow of early-stage capital for local climate-focused startups.

Increasing early-stage investment into climate solutions will foster the innovation and ideas necessary to meet our climate goals. This is more necessary than ever as we move into the “Decade of Action” to deliver the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
