On June 15, 2015, government and business delegations from Vancouver, BC and Guangzhou, China gathered at the Canada-China Economic and Finance Forum. Hosted by the VEC, this forum provided a excellent platform to both celebrate the Sister City relationship and build upon these long-term, meaningful relationships that attract talent and investment needed for both cities to prosper.
The event attracted over 100 attendees and consisted of networking opportunities, opening remarks by H.E. Feil Liu, Consul-General of the People’s republic of China in Vancouver, a lively fireside chat between the two city mayors (Mayor Robertson and Mayor Chen), a key note address from William Zhu, President & CEO of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Canada), a signing ceremony and a cultural presentation.
Said Chen Jianhua, Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government: “The Business Forum is not only a testament to the growing friendly exchanges between the two sides, but also a celebration of the partnership of these two sister cities over the past 30 years.”
