Hashir Safi
Manager, Economic Transformation
Innovation & capital
As Manager, Economic Transformation, Hashir provides strategic guidance on a diverse portfolio of initiatives at the VEC. Hashir’s work is focused on transforming the innovation and capital ecosystem towards a more sustainable and equitable future. He manages our flagship Angels for Climate Solutions program, along with a suite of initiatives focused on growing our local innovation and capital ecosystems.
Hashir joined the VEC in 2018 as the first Industrial Coordinator after completing his Bachelor of Economics from UBC and Master of Management from the UBC Sauder School of Business. As Industrial Concierge, he facilitated industrial space-sharing projects by finding and activating underused industrial spaces; working with businesses and landowners to navigate partnership agreements, leasing terms, and permitting and licensing; and building governance structures and financing models for these projects.
By combining his interest in the interplay between sustainable business development, local startup growth, and organizational efficiency, Hashir’s work at VEC helps grow Vancouver’s innovation and capital ecosystems.
