At the beginning of the year, Bill Morneau, Canada’s Minister of Finance committed to “embarking on an intensive cross-Canada conversation with Canadians to shape our first budget – and our future budgets” (source). On January 15th, the Vancouver business community participated in a pre-budget roundtable bringing forward topics that affect Vancouverites in terms of the economy, the environment and local priorities including infrastructure.
Co-organized by the Vancouver Economic Commission, participants, which included prominent members of the business community in Tech, Digital Entertainment and the Green economy, urged the Minister to be bold and not hold back as our economy needs to grow. In the end, Minister Morneau pronounced the Vancouver #PBC16 the “most optimistic” of his tour.
