Green and Digital Demonstration Program: An ‘Inside the Boardroom’ Event
The City of Vancouver and the Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) recently launched the Green and Digital Demonstration Program (GDDP), and are hosting an ‘inside-the-boardroom’ event that shows the program in action, and how winning proponents are selected. GDDP provides local entrepreneurs and start-ups the opportunity to use City-owned assets (e.g. buildings, streets, or vehicles), for technology demonstrations and proof-of-concept trials. Participants benefit by using staff feedback to refine their solutions, and a local reference site as leverage when selling into the global marketplace. The overall goal of the program is to provide a platform that accelerate the pace of innovation, commercialization, and green job growth in the City of Vancouver. Session participants will learn more about GDDP, hear from past participants, and witness shortlisted GDDP applicants pitch their innovative pilot proposals to senior city staff (the evaluation committee) in a friendly dragon’s den style format. This is an invite-only event – government officials, economic development officers, non-profit representatives, and investors are encouraged to reach out for more information and submit their interest by contacting John McPherson, GDDP Program Manager, at jmcpherson@vancouvereconomic.com
